The Telstra building in the Adelaide CBD needed some large gear taken to the roof of the building, around 100 meters above street level. For this job they required Adelaide’s largest mobile crane. We were approached to film a time-lapse of the whole operation, including assembly, lifts, and the disassembly of the crane. The crane was so large that both lanes of Pirie Street were closed down over the weekend. This put a very tight time limit on the operation, and for us it was a good test of our ability to cover the whole operation without missing a thing. We covered all 40 hours of the process from start to finish. Using 5 cameras we covered over 50 angles as the focus progressed from the setup on the street, the lift to the top of the building, and finally pack down. We were left with over 100 hours of footage to cut down and create a 7 minute time-lapse video.
